State of the Art Tethered Aerostats...

Flying Pictures has developed a state of the art Tethered Aerostat system (Top Shot) as a platform for aerial payloads such as broadcast, surveillance or communications. The 19 metre aerostat (or blimp) is capable of being flown to heights of 500 metres with payloads up to 100 kg in normal conditions. The system can be rented with a full support crew or purchased outright as required.

Large systems are currently being designed for military use. Applications vary from sponsored, remote control aerial broadcast cameras at sporting events to 24 hours a day dual sensor (daylight and thermal imaging) surveillance. At the G8 summit in Scotland the Security Planning Director described it as having "transformed our surveillance operations at Gleneagles"
