The following is our joint press release:

Leading aerial film and television companies Flying Pictures and The Lens Foundry officially announce their merger. The new group will trade under the Flying Pictures banner. Details of the group’s activities to date can be found on the websites: flyingpictures.com and thelensfoundry.com

James Hunter Smart will continue as Managing Director, with Adam Sculthorp joining the board of directors as Head of Cameras and Deane De-Beger becoming Client and Business Development Manager, working alongside Head of Film Services Andy Stephens.

The company will combine the best of the aerial film and television production worlds. The original Flying Pictures team have over 35 years of experience of aerial film production in the motion picture business - with well over 400 movies under it’s belt including thirteen James Bond films and the complete Harry Potter series and recently Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Flying Pictures were also responsible for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games stunt which saw Her Majesty the Queen and James Bond parachute into the stadium.

The Lens Foundry has specialised in lightweight stabilised cameras since 2012 and is recognised as one of the UK’s leading drone operators. With credits including hit drama series Sherlock, Poldark and Downton Abbey as well as the recently released feature film The Huntsman: Winters War.

The Lens Foundry will continue to offer its extensive range of facilities including its large fleet of drones, Movi rigs, Cable-cams and Tracking Vehicles.

The company will remain a reseller for both Cineflex and Freefly Systems.

The merger of the two companies will unify under one roof an extensive range of specialist personnel and expertise over the broadcast and motion picture industries.
